I have been teaching people to fly in the San Francisco Bay Area since 2008. This is one of the greatest places in the world for aviation. Great flying weather at all times of the year, beautiful scenery, and complex airspace. I’m an independent flight instructor affiliated with West Valley Flying Club, which is located at Palo Alto and San Carlos airports. I also volunteer with the Civil Air Patrol, where I serve as a checkpilot examiner and a mountain search instructor.
Outside of flying, I work as an engineer helping to design and build laser eye surgery systems. As a result, I have found that my teaching style fits well with other scientists and engineers. But, it also means that my availability for flight instruction is generally limited to weekends. I typically only can take 1-2 students at a time.
